Hindi Movies of 2010

So the Award season is on again like every year there will be millions of awards will be bestowed upon many undeserving super stars along with some deserving artists/technicians. Some great directors such as Sazid Khan, Anees Bazmi etc will be in the Jury of these awards.

I feel very sad (actually pissed off) when I see different winners for best film and best director category. I mean how that is possible. I mean it’s like saying to some painter that your paintings are not best but you are best. I simply don’t get it. So I decided that I will decide my own list of best films and then of course the director of these movies are best directors of 2010 as per my opinion.

As per Wikipedia a total of 122 Hindi films were released in the year of 2010 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindi_films_2010). I must have seen at least 40 of them so that makes it one third of the total movies released. Since I am not in the Jury of any award so I had the pleasure of watching the movies of my choice. So this list is out of those one third movies.
Disclaimer: All the names mentioned in this list are purely based on my liking. There is no sold name in this list (I don’t think that someone will pay me although I’m ready if someone want to :)).

So these are my top favorite movies of the year in the order of release date. I am not eligible to say that this one is number 1 or number 2 but I enjoyed watching these movies and can watch again and again. One thing to note that the directors of all these movies are either the writer or co-writer so they at least knew what they were up to :)

It was one of those movie I was eagerly waiting since the trailer got out. Trailer was amazing and so was the fillamm. Everything in the movie was great, performances, music, locations, camera but the best part was the dialogues. It had many gems like “Duniya main sabse badi dushmani miyan biwi ki hoti hai” and “Tumhara Ishq ishq aur humara ishq sex”. What a start to the year.

A very nice movie setup in early 90’s in Mumbai. Great performances from Sidharth, Aditya Pancholi and Ankur Vikal. All the character looked very real and a tight story around the game of Carom. Cool cool cool.

Love Sex Aur Dhokha
Writer
: Dibakar Banerjee, Kenu Behl
Director: Dibakar Banerjee
I am a huge fan of Dibakar Banerjee. And why not he is the only ‘Bedag’ director apart from VB and Sreeram Raghvan. LSD is now a cult classic in hindi movies. 3 different stories shot in handy cam style and still all three stories are related. So real characters and so real stories but not at the cost of entertainment. And it has one of the coolest starring in recent past. Dibakar Sir take a bow.

Tere Bin Laden

Director: Abhishek Sharma
Perhaps the most pleasant surprise of the year. There was no hype and no expectation around this movie. But movie is required none of it. A wonderful movie again with very good performances and dialogues. Such a sensitive topic was handled with such ease and without any controversy which is commendable. And Pakistan created in Hyderabad again proved that basically no difference in these two countries.

A beautiful movie. The coming to age story, a step brother a supportive uncle and ‘Kamina Baap’. Ronit Roy proved his acting talent with this flick and in my opinion his is one of the best performances of the year.

Peepli Live

Director: Anusha Rizvi
One movie which entertain you and at the same time makes you think. There’s really a very broad gap between urban and rural India. Media, Politics, babus, police and we the people all were telecasted from ‘Peepli Live’

Dabangg
Writer: Dileep Shukla, Abhinav Kashyap
Director: Abhinav Kashyap
This is an unashamedly masala movie and we the Indian like masala. Salman khan rocked and it was his movie out and out. We’ll soon see more Tamil genre of action comedy movies in coming time. But whether they will be as entertaining? That’s a question.

Do Dooni Chaar

: Habib Faisal, Rahil Qazi
Director: Habib Faisal
I could so relate to the characters of this movie. They were so real and their stories were also very real. Rishi kapoor and Neetu were awesome and it was really good to see Delhi which I know. My appeal to all my friends who has missed this one please get the DVD and watch it.

Phas Gaye Re Obama
Writer
: Subhash Kapoor
Director: Subhash Kapoor
One more gem from Rajat kapoor and gang. Really funny movie, great performances from Manu Rishi and Amol Gupte. Checkout the scene from English speaking class you will have a good lough.

Band Baaja Baaraat
Writer: Maneesh Sharma
Director: Maneesh Sharma
Yes it’s a Yash Raj movie, yes it also has punjaabi characters, yes it also has wedding songs but still this is different. Shruti Kakkar and Bitto Sharma were real and so was the Delhi. Good performances from the lead pair and supporting cast. Really worth a watch.

So the list ends here. Some other movies which I liked but could not include in this list are: Well Done Abba, Rakt Charitra - 1, Athithi Tum Kab Jaoge, Road To Sangam, Aisha, City Of Gold and Once Upon a time in Mumbai.

That concludes the good part now below are some movie which were a huge let down for me. I had some expectation from these movie but was disappointed. I am just giving the names reason you all know
Lamhaa – Rahul Dholakia
Kites – Anurag Basu
Rajneeti – Prakash Jha
Raavan – Mani Ratnam

If you happen to read it please leave your comment feedback. This is my choice yours can be different. Keep checking this space for more post. Thanks.

“Wall – E” WOW! and “Jimmy” the junk

You must be wondering that how can I compare these two flicks. One is a Hollywood animation movie and other is Hindi movie. So what is the comparison?
Actually nothing. These are the 2 movie I happened to see in last 2 days and both of them are so extraordinary (in their own sense) that I’ve to write something about them.

In last 2-3 weeks lots of movie were released Singh is King, Bachna Ae Haseeno, CKKompany, Chamku, Mumbai Meri Jaan etc. But except Mumbai Meri Jaan, no other movie excited us enough to go to the multiplex and spend 500 – 600 bucks. So we decided to gave them a miss. Then last week I saw an ad of Wall – E and came to know that it is releasing in India on 29th Aug. We both (Me and my wife Megha) are avid fans of animation movies. Some of my personal favorites are Shrek (all 3), Ratatouille, Ice Age and Tom & Jerry series. My team also happened to work on one of the web campaign for Wall – E so I was pretty eager to watch it.

After watching the movie I can certainly say that it is the best animation movie I’ve seen till date. I am wordless. Yes!!! Pixar does it again. After Cars, Toy Story, Finding Nemo they have once again given this masterpiece called “Wall - E”. They make you believe that even a Rabot has feelings and he can express his feelings also. The even make a cockroach adorable J. The animation, characters, story everything is just wonderful and out of this world. The two lead robots Wall – E and Eva just take names of each other still you can feel the chemistry of them. I don’t have enough words and I am not a reviewer or critic, but as a movie buff I Simply loved the movie and want to see it again and again.

Now let’s talk about Jimmy. Now for those of you who have not heard about this movie, it is the launching pad of Mithun Da’s son Mimoh. I queued the movie in our big flick account out of curiosity (I think Mithun is a great actor, watch GURU, Agnipath to confirm, and wanted to see how his son fares). But the movie is simply a disaster and the same is this guy. The drama scene looks comic and supposed to be comic scenes simply falls flat. All the pathetic actors are gathered and tried to make this crap. I could not dare to see it more than 30 min. I will not say much but you can still try at you own Risk ;)

Thanks
Ritesh

My finding on SEO for Flash

Sometime time ago (May be a month), I heard that flash content now can be indexed on Google and Yahoo Search engine. For this Adobe has provided some complex flash player to theese search engines which in turn will allow them to dig inside the thousand of Flash enabled Web sites out there and crawl inside them to brin the relavent content for indexing. Google has even desribed it's improved methods form flash indexing.

After going through many blogs and articles I can say that it is just a baby step and flash is still very far away from actually getting indexed. One question is that why Flash will not be searcable on live serach.

Gilbert Corrales has explained the fact in details and also that how Silverlight can be indexed in all search engines without any specific player.

Also found this hilarious take on the Google's method of indexing the flash content. Very interesting indeed.

When Will It End?

I seen the light from the mountain moon shimmer, shadow bright.
I seen the mountain when trees stood straight up right.
I seen desolated mountain weep as man destroyed tall to fall.
When will heartless ravage end, to let the mountain mend.
What's left on the mountain is ours to tell.
What's left for our children's children as they run & play where trees used to be for they have no place to dwell.
Mountain streams will continue to flow, foliage will continue to grow,
trees once more will reach the blue, only to surrender to man's blow...
When acid-rain turns to ice, the age of freeze begins.

Man will perish.
&
God will cherish.
